Kirkness & Gorie

Our family has been in business in the same spot in the heart of Kirkwall for over 160 years.  It all started in 1859, when James Kirkness opened a grocer’s and wine merchant at No 15 Broad Street.  His daughter Margaret married John Gorie, and the shop has been known as Kirkness & Gorie ever since.  It sells a wide selection of local and imported produce: whisky, gin, beer, farm cheese, oatcakes and much more from Orkney, and a huge selection of wines, olives and continental cheeses from across Europe.  It also organises the Orkney Wine Festival every May, and many other exciting events throughout the year.  Visit the Kirkness & Gorie website and discover their range of high quality produce.   During the coronavirus crisis, they are busy delivering food and wine all across Orkney: see their website for Home Delivery details.
